A Journey Together

We are “Better Together.”

Our journey of “better together” begins with a story.  I have been an Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapist for 20+ years.  I have been focused on learning the specialty of orthopaedic manual physical therapy (OMPT) to help my patients become better, less pain, more function.  This has gotten me very far in developing clinical reasoning and advanced skills.

Quite a few years ago, though, I realized that this was not enough.  I could get patients better, but it would not last.  How could I help my patients stay better?  It wasn’t until I started teaching patients how to help treat themselves that they started staying better.  I developed treatment tools that patients could use at home for helping with the specific mechanics of their body.  The patients that followed through on their self-treatment, exercises, and posture/ergonomic changes got better faster and stayed better.  One man called me at Christmas time and thanked me that he never needed me.

The therapist on their own can only do so much.  Likewise, the patient without the therapist can only do a part.  As a team we can win the game

So, I feel compelled to make these tools available (conjuncte therapy tools) to those wanting to take part in their musculoskeletal health, but even more, I am excited to promote the message that we are “better together.”  By following this blog, you will join in the epic journey of “better together,” not just with the physical therapy/patient relationship, but with every area imaginable.  Because in every area we are “better together.”
