Rebecca Lowe

OMPT, PT, COMT, FAAOMPT

Hi! I’m Rebecca Lowe, Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapist (OMPT), and partner in your wellness.

All of my life I have been drawn towards healing, wellness, and wholeness. I began this by studying physical therapy at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. After I was introduced to Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy (OMPT), my practice changed drastically. For 22 years now I’ve practiced OMPT and have had my own personal health story.

I have realized that healing is much more than the physical piece, and I hope that you will too. My focus is the physical aspect of helping to allow the joints, muscles, fascia, nerves, and skin to heal, but during my work you are allowed emotion in a safe environment. Sometimes being allowed to talk and express yourself in the context of having your physical issues addressed can aid in your healing. I call it Therapy With Heart.

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
and Wellness Coach

I fell in love with physical therapy because it is a profession based on the idea that our bodies are capable of healing themselves. Physical therapy includes medical assessment and evidence-based treatment aimed at empowering people through education, coaching, and bodywork. I am a firm believer in the power of listening, body positivity, and self-love. My goal is to provide information, pain relief, and space to heal. I earned my doctorate in physical therapy at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 2018. I am fortunate to be completing an Apprenticeship in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy to continue my education in body work and reach a higher level of care and skills in manual therapy. Manual Therapy of Nashville is the perfect mix of medical examination, evidence-based practice, and holistic healing catered to your specific needs and lifestyle choices. I hope to educate you, empower you, and assist you to live your best life, your best version of you. When I am not at work, you can find me in the woods, being close to nature is when I feel most human. I also love live music, cooking, yoga, Pilates, and sweating it out at the gym.

Manual Therapy

Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy (OMPT) is a highly-specialized area of physical therapy that treats the specific problem, while also looking at the whole person and their lifestyle. Tools used in OMPT are joint mobilization/ manipulation, soft tissue techniques, dry needling, exercise, stress management tools, breathing exercises, self-treatment techniques, education in posture, ergonomics, and activities.

Fascia/ Connective Tissue Therapy using IASTM

Functioning of the fascial system is part of what makes movement and a healthy body. If you have had continued pain and loss of movement and have not had work done to this system, it is worth coming in for an assessment. The precision of these tools allows for better attention to detail in the fascial system.

Mind Body Connection

Research and books, such as The Body Keeps Score, discuss the influence of the mind and body on one another. We are not counselors, but just by listening and sometimes asking the right questions, you can make connections between your life and what your body may be trying to communicate to you, such as, let me rest more, something is stressing me out, change something. The most important question is do you and your body feel safe?  The second is, do you know where you are and where you're going?
